What is YAMM?

The Young Adult Missional Movement is to identify, recognize, gather & encourage all expressions of young adults in missional service in the Florida Conference. This is a yearlong program for young adults to experience the love of God by building cooperative living, meaningful work & community engagement. YAMM provide support in the way of coaching, encouraging and connecting young adults together, to prevent mistakes, exchange best practices, support spiritual development and facilitate reflection, action and growth. Applications are available online or by mail. Submit them as soon as possible for best match to potential placements. Program starts at the end of August. Each house moves in on different days. Current students may participate as long as they can adequately plan for time commitments and fulfill work expectations at placement site. House teams are often incredibly diverse in age, gender, education, theological background and orientation.

The need for affordable housing in Collier County continues to grow, with 20 families inquiring for every home built. You will see firsthand the difficulty that the local workforce encounters on their search for affordable housing, and the untenable conditions they often find themselves in as a result. With a 39-year history and more than 2,000 partner families, you will also witness the difference that an affordable home makes in the lives of those families at all stages of partnership, from pre-approval interviews to final mortgage payments. Job Description:

Habitat for Humanity of Collier County, Inc. is looking for a full-time General Laborer (YAMM). This is an opportunity to develop professional skills in an office environment while assisting low income families with their shelter needs. The best candidate for this position will have strong communication and interpersonal skills (Bilingual highly desirable). They will also be adaptive, flexible, energetic, and motivated. We are looking for someone that wants to work side by side with us to accomplish our mission, while also gaining essential work experience.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ability to work on many different aspects of house construction to include but not limited to roofing, siding, rough and finish carpentry, painting, and landscaping as this role will work alongside the volunteers throughout the project on the many tasks needed for completion of the home.
  • Assist with quality control of construction projects.
  • Assist with inventory control.
  • Provide instruction and training to volunteers.
  • Exhibit great communication skills to verify all around you are clear on the instructions / task at hand and can conduct it within scope.
  • Exhibit attention to detail with regard to all aspects of the role.
  • Schedule work flow for each project and communicate with supervisor when schedule needs alteration for any reason.
  • Daily reporting to Director of Construction regarding project status.
  • Responsible for the safety of self and others around the construction site by verifying knowledge of safety rules is shared, all personal protective equipment is worn, and all OSHA guidelines are followed.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Construction experience preferred

Additional Requirement(s):

Knowledge of Florida Building Code (preferred)
OSHA safety qualifications (preferred)
